Tsuyama Castle

River Boat

River Boat

The Yoshii river has been an important part of the Tsuyama Castle town.  It was acting like a second moat  to the south  but more importantly it was a busy trading route.  Travels on water needs boats and all sorts of river crafts appeared. This craft is designed to ferry people in comfort  either across the river or upstream or downstream.

Tsuyama castle lord was very good looking guy

Tsuyama castle lord was very good looking guy

History of Lord Tsuyama Castle 1

History of Lord Tsuyama Castle 1

The Hiroshige art Gallery

The Hiroshige art Gallery

On this day 1858 Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) one of Japans much-loved artists life ended. Hiroshige travelled Japan and depicted landscape and Japanese life in early 1800. Looking at his art has helped me a lot in understanding some aspects of Japanese culture, art and architecture. Combined with lots of help from Miyoko Solo I now know a precious bit more. I thought it fitting to make a Hiroshige Art Gallery  close to the Main Castle in “The Lost Castle”  The paintings are a random selection, even though Hiroshige lived in the end of the existence of the Tsuyama Castle I think his art is still...

The Lost Castle Christmas New year

The Lost Castle Christmas New year

Wishing you all a Happy Holiday time. It is a Festive time in The Lost Castle In Year 1616 I am sure Mori Tadamasa would not have celebrated Christmas but I bet he was happy some 400 years ago to see his Tsuyama Castle town being borne. For us TLC started purely as a test, us uploading mesh to our test opensimulator. It did not take long for us to fall in love with Tsuyama Castle but to rebuild the existing mesh model "created by Honey" and make it work in Opensim was a big undertaking. Tsuyama Castle town after you get to know it is a very cleverly designed township it is not only practical,...

Building a new Donjon Opensimulator and Blender at work.

Building a new Donjon Opensimulator and Blender at work.

The lost Castle has a main keep or “The Donjon” It was one of the first buildings we made  and it is a mix of prims, sculpties and for a good measure a few mesh items made it in the end. It was all linked in one overly large  file and every time  you got  close to the building  things started to get a bit sticky. What about if we build a new one from mesh alone?  Start up Blender and get to work, many triangles later I mean thousands and thousands ,   we have a new Donjon. A Japanese Castle is a structure with graceful lines, simple and clean. It is a post and beam construction,...

The Lost Castle Ukimido Welcome area in opensim

The Lost Castle Ukimido Welcome area in opensim

Lately we have spent our time creating a welcome area for The Lost Castle. Miyoko suggested we include the ambiance of the  Ukimido Pavilion located on the Sagi pond at Nara, Kansai as our main building and welcome place. It sounded like a brilliant idea, a few days later Miyoko is on her way  to Nara to take photos and get a feel for her new 3D project. Meantime  I worked on the  terrain for the megaregion we hope to attach to OS Grid a bit later. The intention is to create a mountain landscape region containing mainly nature. A place for exploring and maybe a place where you can find...

Nature and Landscape in the lost castle.

Nature and Landscape in the lost castle.

The nature landscape, all its wonderful moments and sights are as I understand it the most difficult impressions to recreate. To see trees and flowers growing in places one would say impossible is truly at times mind-boggling. Miyoko Solo has a passion for all things nature as a 3D artist she is enhancing The Lost Castle landscape with Japanese flora and fauna rendering a variety of wondrous scenes. Miyoko is taking us back to a time when wildflowers grew more freely to a nature less interfered by man than what we have today, reminding us of the importance to care for our environment. The Lost Castle Boat Shed and Boats

The Lost Castle Boat Shed and Boats

Boat building has always played  an important part of a nation's development. Waterways are a conveniently provided by nature for transport.  If you have a boat that is! The Takase boat  was designed by Mr Takasa and it so happens he was born not far from Tsuyama (early 1600). A few kilometers downstream from the Castle,  once was an  Iron ore mine the ore was carried by Takasabone downstream. That is the connection with Takase boats to our project. The Takase boat has been an important vehicle in the history of Japan. It is a long and narrow flat bottom boat sometimes with high freeboard...
